SPECIAL AMFP TOUR of the VA SCIC!
AMFP Members can bring a "future member" along -- space is limited, so sign up today!
The VA San Diego Spinal Cord Injury Center is a comprehensive care replacement facility offering cutting-edge care with 50 private SCI inpatient rooms and 32 community beds. The facility offers diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation for veterans with spinal cord injuries, featuring acute care, long-term care, and community living center spaces, a therapeutic pool, gym, and accessible outdoor gardens.
Symbolism honoring Veterans' service reverberates throughout the building's design, with military branch-inspired stars adorning interior corridors. The Paralyzed Veterans of America played an active role in the design process, ensuring the facility caters to the specific needs of Veterans with spinal cord injuries, including mobility impairments and accessibility requirements.
Special thanks to CannonDesign's Leo Oh (AIA, Project Architect) and Knute Haglund (AIA, Senior Associate) for guiding us on the tour and making it possible!

PLEASE SEE PARKING INFORMATION BELOW.
*Please bring/wear your own PPE for the tour. See details under Registration.

PARKING:
Currently, parking at the VA is limited. We recommend the trolley drop off sites which include the VA Medical Center Station, or the Nobel Drive Station is 1 stop away and Uber/Lyft offer a reasonable drop off to the facility. Parking is also adjacent to the VA at shops and eateries at La Jolla Village Square. The map below shows parking areas in red or blue, but these are risky in securing spots.
